Computer Business Consultants, Inc., CEO Clinton Pownall, presented Lake County Deputy Sheriff Keshia Rytter with the Community Public Service Award at the South Lake Chamber of Commerce breakfast on Feb. 21. This award highlights police, fire and EMS personnel who go above and beyond the call of duty.
Deputy Sheriff Rytter joined the Lake County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Unit near the end of the 2018-19 school year. She is currently assigned to East Ridge Middle School (ERMS) where she has become an instrumental member of the school staff and a favorite of the student body.
Deputy Sheriff Rytter goes out of her way to make lasting relationships with the students she serves at ERMS. This school year she started a new project that encourages both attendance and behavioral excellence. If at the end of each semester a student has perfect attendance and no disciplinary events their names are placed into a drawing. One student from each grade level is then drawn and receives a Yeti style tumbler, personalized and designed by Deputy Sheriff Rytter and at her own expense.
Projects such as this highlight the dedication and commitment to our youth and the professional and caring nature of Deputy Sheriff Rytter. Lt. Michael Marden notes that “Deputy Sheriff Rytter is a tremendous asset to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the School Resource Unit, and the community she serves.”
As a nod to Deputy Sheriff Rytter’s project, Pownall presented her with a personalized mug of her own. “The impact that our School Resource Officers have on the students in our community is immeasurable,” says Pownall. “It was an honor for me to recognize Deputy Sheriff Rytter. The relationships she is building with the students of East Ridge Middle School will have lasting effects for years to come.”
