Nearly 200 seniors at South Lake High School in Clermont, Florida are getting a “real world” education, thanks to the South Lake Chamber of Commerce Education Committee and volunteers from the local business community.
The Job Readiness Project is led by Education Committee Chair Clinton Pownall, president of Computer Business Consultants, Inc. About 20 Chamber members and other business leaders will hold two sessions at the high school to prepare students to enter the job market. Students will benefit from coaching on issues like appearance and first impressions, what to do about tattoos, how to respond to questions, and other important interviewing skills. The Job Readiness team will also share tips on how to advance once students have successfully landed a job. Plans call for expanding the program to serve all three South Lake high schools in 2014.
